AmphibAlaska Prototype 2 Specifications

Amphib Alaska coming out of the water Amphib Alaska on trailer

CHASSIS / HULL
Stainless steel and welded aluminum
Patent No. 6921304B2

AmphibAlaska Prototype 1 proved that an amphibious vehicle can be fast, sturdy and versatile on land and on the water. Now we've completed Prototype 2.

The second AmphibAlaska is bigger and more powerful. It's faster on the ground and afloat. The payload is increased, allowing for more passengers and cargo onboard. A cabin with a sliding cowling means easy access and comfort.

A new system for track deployment and retrieval greatly improves the ease and speed of conversion. Run her aground, drop the 12-inch tracks and you're on your way. For water operation, drive her in until she floats, pull up the tracks and the mechanical system stows them, conveniently inset and above the water line. For maximum shallow-water utility, we're coupling a single-stage jet outdrive to the Chevrolet aluminum-block engine — which develops a beefy 265 horsepower — or a diesel 250 Steyr engine. The design is for a top land speed of 30 mph and a water speed of 30 mph.
